How To Sell Jewelry - Arts and Crafts Shows

These three questions are major when you are selecting arts and crafts shows to display your handmade jewelry designs and to start selling jewelry.
  1. Are you ready to display your jewelry design line?
  2. Are your designs ready to be viewed by the public?
  3. Have you researched and targeted the type of buyers who would be interested in your line of jewelry?
Are you ready to display your jewelry design line?
You will have a terrible experience at any showing if your jewelry design, workmanship, and stock supplies are not ready. Critique honestly. If your line is not ready; do not show.
Are your jewelry designs ready to be viewed by the public?
  1. It pays to research. Design and know that your handmade jewelry products will sell. Successful companies do much research to guarantee financial success.
  2. Attend arts and crafts shows which you would like to participate in and see what types of handmade jewelry merchandise are popular and selling.
  3. Listen to comments made from customers and vendors. This information may help you to bring jewelry which may be lacking in the shows and fill the needs of customers.
Have you researched and are prepared to target the type of buyers who would be interested in your line of jewelry?
Know your product and its market in order to know if the arts and crafts show you wish to attend will bring you financial success and cover your business expenses.
For example, I design ethnic beaded jewelry. If accepted into a show which does not allow for international variety, I have gained nothing and I will be rejected.
Did you fill the application forms correctly and follow the rules and regulations for pre-qualifying?
If you did not, do not expect to be accepted. Show promoters have questions, rules, and regulations on their application forms. Follow their instructions. Cross every "t" and dot every "i"; this is critical.
The members and sponsors of the show...
Are aware of what they need to do in order to have a successful business showing. If the participants or the artisans do not meet the expectations of the consumers, the show will fail. The arts and crafts show will receive a poor review by critics and customers, sales will be meager, and there will be a poor showing of customers for current and future shows.
This is a double-edged business whereby artists and show promoters need to have what it takes to draw and keep potential customers returning to their arts and crafts activity yearly.
Show promoters look for unique differences
Do you have a unique line of jewelry which will add to the show as well as to your pocketbook?
Is it an outdoor or an indoor event?
Will your merchandise need to be safeguarded indoors as the sun, dust, and other weather conditions may be hazardous to your jewelry display on an open table or in a tent.
Pricing:
Selling jewelry is dependent on the needs and the best price for the customer. Price your jewelry merchandise to represent the community in which the show is located. One location may justify selling a bracelet for $5 and that same bracelet in another location will sell for $15.
The above information has been my personal experiences with selling my line of jewelry.
